Anres blinked. He lifted his ears, shifting them this way and that, trying to be sure he really was hearing the song. It was incredibly faint, but what he was hearing was real. It was a deep, thrumming sound, one that vibrated heavily in his ear drums. The bass sounds slid and shifted fluidly from one note to another, without any strong beat to guide them. They just did as they wanted, flowing like the tide. Cautiously, he crept further into the cave, his ears upright like radar dishes, keeping focused on the faint thread of a song. How far was it? He couldn't quite tell, but he hoped he was getting closer...

While the cave still had most of his attention, Lhast caught the dark red movement of his coterie mate out of the corner of his eye. Anres was moving further in, and Lhast hesitated before following him. As he bounded after Anres, moving quickly as the red buckling was already far ahead, his head and eyes moved this way and that, taking in everything he could see and hear. Drip, drip, drip, was the soft noise of the water. There were also the footsteps of other hatchlings. "Hey, Anres, wait up!" he called, prying his attention away from the glowing mushrooms for a moment. "Where are you going?" He got no reply, but kept following anyways.

Fiachra barely stepped into the cave before she felt something strange. A vibration seemed to emanate from below and to her left and she immediately backed up slightly to investigate. Looking down, she tried to search the ground below her and saw a glint below her feet. For a moment everything dimmed and she felt as though she were falling into herself, hearing, feeling, something new. She quickly pawed at the glinting piece of rock and pulled it up to her chest, clutching it with right middle paw, keeping her treasure safe.

Aria had been so nervous that she had barely heard the sound of her own crystal calling her. When she lifted her head, to look further around her, she heard a song clearly and without thinking, she pushed past Oren to where the sound was coming from. Rushing forward and to the left, she perked her ears, hoping that they would tell her exactly where the stone was.

Shadrach was surprised when he heard a pulsing chord, almost like the sound of howling wind. He looked carefully about him and decided to go forward past some of the glowing mushrooms. Casta, I think I hear something over here. Come with me? He asked his companion softly, hoping that she didn't need to go in another direction.

Oblivious to any crystal songs yet, Casta was more than happy to join Shadrach as he headed toward the sound he'd heard. Oh maybe you found your crystal! It seems there are a lot of them in this cavern. She noted many others stopping in surprise, or heading toward a sound they, too, must be hearing. Determined to join the search, Casta sent about with all her senses, to see if something grabbed her attention. So far all she heard, aside from the soft sounds of other hatchlings, was the distant water which had, in ages past, helped make the caves.

Without heed or thought, Rani felt her ears swivel left, then her head, the rest of her body not far behind. Though she tried desperately to keep track of her partner (Zari), whose attention seemed to have been grabbed by a particularly large patch of mushrooms, the doe couldn't help but follow the thrilling call that filtered like brilliant sunlight through her mind. It was faint, so very faint, but it turned to unfalteringly left. Eyes half-lidded, she walked more by feel than by sight, straining to hold on to the ethereal song.

Her brother, amazingly, had stumbled almost unwitting on top of his. The throbbing turned from a gentle heartbeat into a racing pounding between his ears, bringing him to an almost unwilling crouch. And there it was, right in front of his nose... Small enough to go unseen, but large enough for the rhythm to be thrumming through him loud enough to be almost painful. Delicately, Kaled grasped the stone between his teeth, holding on firmly. At his touch, the noise quieted to an eager throbbing, as though it were waiting for something. With a small smile, he turned back to his partners side, eager now to help the small doe find a stone of her own.

The glow of luminescent fungi was everywhere, but there was one patch in particular that called to Darakesh... A quiet siren song of spun moonlight and cool breezes that whispered through his thoughts, catching hold like a hook and pulling him, half unwilling, forward. Part of him, a large part, didn't want to move from his companion's stout side. But it was as if he were unable to resist... And it wasn't that far away, really. Plus, the light from this specific growth seemed brighter, even warmer somehow. With faltering steps, he moved forward to investigate it further, poised to flee should anything particularly nasty pop out.

He hadn't remembered hearing music moments before, so Sheakohl was easily startled when the trilling rose up from a softly shining stone that had been hiding behind the mushroom he'd decided to examine. He almost scrabbled backward, but the stone called him toward it. Still hesitant, and now completely oblivious to his cave-partners, he crept forward to sniff delicately at the crystal.

The sound that came to Lava and Kusha was easily ignored at first, as their little noses twitched and their little teeth processed the moss pile they'd discovered. It was only after a moment that their chewing slowed, then halted. Neither voiced it to the other, but they both suddenly felt 'full'... not of the moss, but from the song of their crystal. For once, their ravenous appetite seemed to subside to nothingness, and suddenly they could view the cave without distraction.

Though the crystal still called them, their gazes began to fly around the cavern, examining every nook and cranny that they could from where they were. They saw their partners; Anres and Navlon looked preoccupied, but Lhast looked a little... lost. In a couple of leaps, they made their way to the multi-colored Ametrine buck's side. They didn't say anything, but they seemed to be smiling reassuringly; perhaps it was comforting, perhaps it was a little creepy to have them both staring up at him.

They obviously had good intentions, though, and after bounding in a circle alongside him for a moment, giggling merrily, they raced ahead, now finally following the song that had been calling them. Their destination was beyond a curve in the wall, and with determination they rounded the corner, now sniffling at every out-of-place object, moss and crystal and spider and cave wall alike, regardless of whether they were edible. One of these corners had to hold the rock that was making that enrapturing sound...

Just as Lew'Siffer began to move out deeper into the cavern he tripped. Feeling like a fresh-from-the-egg hatchling for his clumsiness, he looked to see what had caused his embarrassment. For such a dark stone, it sure seemed bright inside. That thought was no sooner complete than all of a sudden he was hearing something in his head. A song! Wow! Lew'Siffer was frozen in place, totally enraptured by the song coming to him.

Arjuna watched his partner carefully make his way to some particularly bright fungi. It seemed a rather bold move for one who had till now seemed rather timid. He watched the ka'rhyn carefully and debated following, but he was feeling such a tug from up ahead. Well, he at least had to go as far as Darakesh was going. He was really interested in the shiny glint he could see not far past where Darakesh seemed to be headed.

Moving along with his partner he stopped when Dara stopped, but still the glint ahead beckoned him from the shadows. Giving his partner one more long look, he decided the ka'rhyn was okay and moved on to investigate further…


The melody coming to Krešimir from a cone-shaped formation pulled the young ma'rhyn deeper into the cave. It was only the vibration of a song really, but still it called to him. Moving closer, the pulse got stronger until he was right beside the rising formation. Wary of spiders or other unpleasantness, Krešimir peered around the deposit...

Navlon was following his partners, when suddenly, they split up; Anres creeping further into the cave, his ears up and alert to something, and Lava and Kusha one moment grazing on moss, the next glancing around the cavern. Lhast seemed quite intent on the cave itself, but Navlon was beginning to hear... something. His ears twitched as he tried to locate the faint melody, and hopped closer to a small pool of water. The sound grew a bit stronger, and he sniffed the surface of the pool. Was his crystal in there?

As Kevrit headed for the crystals along the back wall, he started to notice a soft song, partly heard, partly felt. It seemed to get stronger as he drew closer to the crystals he had decided to explore. Wondering if Rowara heard it as well, as they did share a gemkin, he glanced at her to see, but then focused his attention on the song, trying to determine exactly where it was originating.

Oren heard Aria introduce herself, and replied, I am Oren, and that is Sheakohl. Which was as far as he got before the doeling brushed past him, ears perking up as she listened for her crystal's song. The lu'rhyn turned to Sheakohl, to comment on the unexpected rudeness (as he saw it, oblivious as he was to any song of his own), but the other buckling was already intent on his own crystal. Oren snorted; seemed he was the only one of his group to not find something! I better hurry up, he thought, before I get left in here on my own! Shaking his head to clear his mind, he focused, trying to hear.

Anres froze in his tracks. The song he heard was filling his entire body with its deep, resonating tones now, and he seemed to shrink at how small it made him feel. The song was huge compared to him and it was eating him up. With how loud it was, he could pinpoint its location exactly and, moving slightly out of the way, he saw the crystal underfoot. It sang to him with its deep voice. He sat down and curled up tight, lowering his head near to the crystal. Its liquid tune had him entranced. It was all he wanted to listen to.

Lhast was hearing something, but it wasn't Anres' crystal. In fact, he wasn't sure what it was at all, or where it was coming from. It was just a faint twitter, like birds chirping far in the distance. It seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere, and it frustrated him! Her perked his ears up at full listening capacity. He proceeded, then, to tramp around the cave in wide circles and curves, trying to get a better listen. He would have liked for Lava and Kusha to stay near him, but they were distracted right away which was alright. He'd just do the searching himself! He knew he could do it, at least. He was self-sufficient! Most definitely! Determined, he kept on.

Fia saw Kaled pick up his stone before heading towards the back of the cavern in the direction of the music she was hearing. She paused every few steps to be sure Kaled was still near and to get her bearings on the sound. As she neared the back of the cavern something glinted in her peripheral to the left. She turned to find it, visually scouring the area.

Zari heard a song almost immediately upon her second try. She thought it was coming from near a group of rather large, phosphorescent mushrooms. She decided to investigate more closely. She leaped off her boulder and scurried over to the mushrooms.

Navlon's ears twitched in excitement as he gazed into the pool and saw the crystal beneath the surface. He reached in and pulled it out, clutching it tightly, before looking around to see if his partners had all found their own crystals. Only Lhast seemed to still be looking, so he moved back towards the other three to wait.

Kevrit poked his nose among one patch of crystals, almost frustrated because he could sense the crystal, so close, but he could not find it. Taking a deep breath, he decided to try something different. Sitting very still, he focused on the patch of crystals, hoping to get a clear idea of which was the one calling to him.

Oren wandered around the cavern, somewhat aimlessly, as he had an inkling that his crystal was, indeed, present, but he still didn't hear anything. When he focused, he thought he felt... something... and moved towards where he thought it was. Still, he hadn't really heard much of a song, and he began to wonder if he was wrong, and his crystal wasn't here at all...
